Schlossinsel Gottorf

 

A cultural jewel sits enthroned on the castle island at the entrance to Schleswig: Gottorf Castle. Two museums, a magnificent garden and one of the wonders of the world from the 17th century await visitors on the extensive grounds surrounding the white baroque building.

Wikinger Museum Haithabu

 

Haithabu was founded by Danish Vikings around 1000 years ago, making it one of the first towns in the region. Today, just outside Busdorf, there is a museum and an archaeological excavation site with original finds from that time. 

Rendsburger Schwebefähre

 

With the construction of the Kiel Canal, the municipality of Osterrönfeld lost its direct connection to Rendsburg. The suspension of a ferry under the high bridge solved this shortcoming, with four 35 metre long suspension ropes and eight crossed stiffening ropes holding the 14 metre long and six metre wide ferry on a ferry carriage. This is suspended under the high bridge and is driven by four motors.

Mühle Anna

 

Mühle Anna, an impressive windmill with a large museum of local history and a well-known studio in the mill house, is located in the centre of the beautiful Schwansen landscape - between the Schlei and the Baltic Sea. Year after year, many visitors from near and far are drawn to this lovingly maintained excursion tip, which is a landmark of the municipality of Rieseby that can be seen from afar.

Golf Club Altenhof

 

The home of Altenhof Golf Club is a very picturesque place. The charming hilly landscape on the Eckernförde Bay, sweeping views across the fields, ancient giant trees, the historic ensemble of the Altenhof estate - all this makes this golf course something very special. Not to mention the fact that each of the 18 holes offers fair but demanding challenges for players of all handicap classes.

Naturpark Hüttener Berge

 

With an area of 21,967 ha, the Hüttener Berge Nature Park is the smallest nature park in Schleswig-Holstein and is located in the triangle formed by the towns of Eckernförde, Rendsburg and Schleswig. The unique terminal moraine landscape of the Hüttener Berge, formed by the Ice Age, with its typical kinks and redders, is a jewel for locals and tourists alike.

Freilichtmuseum Molfsee

 

Time seems to have stood still on the 40-hectare site in Molfsee near Kiel: Over 60 historic buildings from all over Schleswig-Holstein have been rebuilt here, with gardens and plenty of nature in between. 

Entdeckerbad Damp

 

A large glass façade provides a view of the Baltic Sea. Inside, visitors can relax in one of the saunas or glide through the warm water.

Phänomenta Flensburg

Hansa-Park

 

At Hansa-Park in the north of Sierksdorf, visitors can immerse themselves in various themed worlds. Hochseilgarten Altenhof

 

In the Altenhof high ropes course, right on the Baltic Sea coast, visitors of all ages climb through the treetops of a beech forest. There are 14 courses with different levels of difficulty to explore. Some of them climb up to 25 metres between the trees.

Domestic and livestock park Arche Warder

 

In the zoo Arche Warder there are 1200 animals, over 80 breeds and one goal: to preserve domestic and farm animal breeds threatened with extinction. Whether Orpino duck, Poitou donkey, Lippegans or Meissen ram - in Warder visitors can marvel at unusual mammal and bird species and at the same time contribute to their preservation.
 

Gettorf Zoo

 

Crested macaques, eland antelopes, meerkats: Around 850 animals, belonging to 150 different species, live in the Gettorf Zoo

The zoo is located in the municipality of Gettorf between Eckernförde and Kiel. At certain times visitors can feed animals themselves and even enter the enclosures of some animals.

Aquarium Geomar

 

At the Geomar Aquarium in Kiel, visitors immerse themselves in the fascinating underwater world and marvel at numerous native and exotic animals in the on-site show aquarium.
The tour takes excursionists past around 20 different tanks that are thematically divided into the various waters of the earth. Through the glass, fish, crabs, coral animals, jellyfish and other shy sea creatures can be examined up close. 

Squirrel sanctuary


The squirrel sanctuary in Eckernförde is a very special project run by Wildtierhilfe. With a great deal of voluntary commitment and expertise, squirrels are cared for here that would not make it on their own, for example foundlings or impaired animals.

The candy factory is known and loved as an Eckernförde attraction far beyond the city and state borders.
